Mechlowitz receives award to conduct research in Ethiopia

Karah Mechlowitz, a public health doctoral student in the social and behavioral sciences concentration at the University of Florida College of Public Health and Health Professions, was awarded the Research Abroad for Doctoral Students (RAD) from the UF International Center.

The RAD program aims to prepare doctoral students to become leaders in global research environment and to engage in and strengthen relationships between UF and foreign institutions. Mechlowitz will use the award to travel to Haramaya, Ethiopia, to evaluate the impact of a community advisory board established for a community-based longitudinal study on project implementation, community engagement and ethical considerations of research. She is mentored by Sarah McKune, Ph.D., M.P.H., a research associate professor in the PHHP department of environmental and global health.
